Upcoming Revolutionary Windows 8 Tablets


The ongoing Computex 2012 at Taipei is one of the world’s biggest computer and IT industry trade show. This trade show has unveiled lots of devices including tablets, laptops and ultrabooks. The major announcement where of Window 8 products, especially tablets with keyboard dock. There is certain similarity in all these Windows 8 tablets; all these tablets are presently in their prototype phase and the manufactures have not disclosed the product specification, price and availability.



1. Samsung



Samsung announced two new tablets ‘Series 5 Hybrid PC and Series 7 Hybrid PC’ in Taipei Computex Show 2012. According to Samsung both the devices sports 11.6 inch touchscreen and other specifications are not available as they are in the development stage. The company claims that the Series 7 Hybrid PC is powerful than the Series 5 Hybrid PC and both will run on Windows 8 operating system. The magnetic docking keyboard allows the series 5 Hybrid to act as a traditional clamshell laptop. Well the keyboard unit doesn’t need any additional battery, it works using the tablet’s battery power.




2. Lenovo



Lenovo launched a new Windows 8 running tablet with 10.1 inch screen with 1366x786 pixel resolution and will be running on unspecified Intel Clover Trail processor. Just like Samsung, Lenovo also didn’t release the specification of its tablet. The company claims that the tablet will have a battery life of more than 10 hours and features dual camera front and back; 2 MP and 8 MP respectively and will also have micro-HDMI and keyboard docking connector.


3. MSI Slider S20



Just like Asus EeePad Slider, the MSI Slider S20 will also instantly transform itself from a tablet to a notebook. With a slide out keyboard it increases the overall thickness but it’s actually an advantage over other tablets as you don’t need to carry your keyboard along. The tablet is powered with Intel Ivy Bride processor, runs Windows 8 operating system and sports 11.6 inch display. There are no other detail specifications available right now.


4. Acer Iconia W700



Acer Iconia W700 is an 11.6 inch tablet which comes with a full HD 1920x1080 pixels resolution touchscreen display and has a special cradle which lets you position the device at 70 degrees for landscape viewing and 20 degrees for touch use. The tablet also sports Dolby home theater, three USB 3.0 ports and the company promises that the device gives 8 hours of battery life. The company didn’t disclose its CPU, but it is expected to have Intel Ivy bridge processor.


5. Asus Taichi



Asus Taichi is one of the most interesting tablets showcased at Computex 2012. The Taichi sports two screens; both LED backlit and IPS panel with Full HD resolution. The one which is on the cover is a touchscreen which act as a tablet when closed and when the lid is open the outer touchscreen display will switch off and the device transforms into a standard notebooks.



The company claims that you can use both the screens as they share the same hardware. The device is powered with Intel third generation Ivy Bridge CPU, has SSD for storage and comes with 11.6 inch and 13.3 inch screens size models.


6. Asus Transformer Book



Asus calls it as the world’s first convertible notebook. It instantly switch between notebook and tablet by just detaching the screen. It is powered with Intel Core i7 processor with discrete graphics, 4GB DDR3 dual channel RAM and has SSD and HDD storage options. The device comes with 11.6 inch, 13 inch or 14 inch Full HD IPS display with multi-touch capability, 5 MP camera at the back, HD front facing camera and has company’s very own Asus SonicMaster technology for crystal clear sound with deep rich bass.


7. Acer Iconia W510



Iconia W510 comes in a convertible form factor, it can be used with standard tablet style, turns into a laptop when docked with a detachable keyboard and runs in a presentation mode if you rotate it 295 degrees with the dock. It sports a 10.1-inch screen with a full HD 10.1-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920×1280 pixels. The device features SIM card slot, USB 2.0 port, MicroSD slot, MicroUSB, HDMI ports and gives 18 hours of battery life when used with keyboard.


8. Dell



Though Dell has not showcased any tablets but it is reported that the company is working on Latitude 10 tablet which is powered with Intel dual core processor, 2 GB of RAM and will sports 10 inch touchscreen. The tablet will also features 8 MP camera at the back and will have 2 MP front facing camera which is capable of recording HD videos and HD video calls as well.
